A George Elokobi own goal and Matthew Etherington's strike put the Potters two ahead at the break but a brace from Craddock at the start of the second half earned the visitors a point.

Wolves remained the more accomplished-looking outfit at 2-2, but the best chance to win the game fell to Abdoulaye Faye, who mucked-up a glorious opportunity from a free header.

The visitors also had problems dealing with the aerial threat and power of James Beattie.

But it was a different story after the break with the introduction of Milijas who set up both goals for Craddock although Stoke will be unhappy with their defending at the two set pieces.

Both Christophe Berra and Craddock were lucky to escape bookings for upending Ricardo Fuller during a bright beginning for the Jamaican birthday boy.

From Whelan's resulting free-kick, the home side appealed in vain for a penalty after the ball appeared to strike the arm of Chris Iwelumo in the defensive wall.

Fuller glanced a header wide from a long Delap throw-in before Stoke went ahead after 18 minutes.

Like most teams in the Premier League, the visitors had struggled to deal with The Potters’ aerial prowess and it was a trademark long throw from Rory Delap that led to Stoke’s second goal.

Christophe Berra had cleared Delap’s slingshot launch, but the ball fell to Etherington, who chested the ball down and struck into Hennessey’s top corner from the edge of the area on the stroke of half time.

Wolves continued to apply pressure to the host’s back line and forced a series of set pieces as they looked to claw their way back into the game, and after 64 minutes, they were rewarded, again through Craddock.

Maierhofer was in amongst the action almost immediately as he headed at Sorensen who comfortably took the ball.

At the other end, Abdoulaye Faye had a glorious opportunity to score the crucial winning goal as he met Etherington's cross, but headed over the bar as the spoils were shared.
