Twente vs. Groningen

Three days after the disappointing Europa League defeat by Sheriff in Moldova, Twente made amends with a strong performance against Groningen. The opening goal came after just five minutes, as a shot from Miroslav Stoch was sufficiently deflected by a defender to fly past the opposing goalkeeper.

Dwight Tiendalli made it 2-0 from outside the penalty area in the 21st minute.

Groningen goalkeeper Brian van Loo fouled Blaise NKufo on the hour mark, with a penalty and a red card as result. NKufo himself converted the spot kick for 3-0.

The fourth and final goal came at ten minutes from the end, as Costa Rican Bryan Ruiz found his way in between three defenders and beat the keeper for 4-0.

Thanks to this win, Twente remain in first place with an advantage of two points over PSV Eindhoven.
