Sochaux vs. Lorient

A trio of consecutive defeats had seen Francis Gillot's side slip into the relegation zone in Week 7, but they eased into the top half of the table for the first time since the opening day thanks to Perquis' maiden goal of the campaign.

The blond-haired centre-back connected with Marvin Martin's free-kick to leave Lorient keeper Fabien Audard helpless and propel the hosts into an eighth-minute lead.

Audard was then called upon to turn away a Nicolas Maurice-Belay shot as the hosts dominated prior to the break.

Opportunities for Christian Gourcuff's visiting side were few and far between, though Kevin Gameiro should perhaps have done better when put clean through by Marama Vahirua early in the second half, but the Lorient forward could not beat Teddy Richert.

Maurice-Belay then returned the favour for Martin only for his team-mate to shoot over before Martin's anticipation saw him intercept Laurent Koscielny's backpass, but - though his shot beat Audard - the Sochaux midfielder saw the ball ricochet to safety off a post.

Olivier Monterrubio forced Richert into a rare stop in the closing stages, but Lorient saw their four-game unbeaten run come to a halt.
