Lorient vs. Nice

Lorient headed into the weekend with 14 points from 8 games while Nice. ranked about the struggling Grenoble, were still second last despite scoring 8 points so far in the ligue.

Their misery continued today as the home team netted four goals and put a strong game.

After a slow start, Lorient forged the first chance after 18 minutes as Diarra fed Morgan Amalfitano and the latter volleying over David Ospina's crossbar.

Chances were still few and far between while Remy smashed a powerful shot which crept wide of Lorient goalkeeper Fabian Audard's goal.

Six minutes before half time, Mvuemba netted a long range goal for the home.

Vahirua won the loose ball in midfield, played in Gameiro on the left and when his powerful shot was parried by Ospina, Vahirua bagged yet another goal for the Breton outfit. And now, three minutes into the second half it was 2-0.

Nice pulled one back shortly after the hour mark when Remy struck a beautiful free-kick into the top left-hand corner.

With 15 minutes to go Lorient extinguished Nice's hopes as Diarra side-footed a goal home with ease.

Man-of-the-match Gameiro wrapped it up with a fourth two minutes from time beating Olivier Echouafni before driving the ball past the despairing Ospina.

Lorient have a three point rise while Nice continue to be in the chronic stage of disaster.
