After the interval Boulogne continued to defend manfully, and home head coach Rene Girard was clearly frustrate by their persistence. Half-chances continued to flow for the home side, with Alberto Costa having a promising free kick turned wide by Mathieu Valverde. From the resultant corner, Nenad Dzodic knocked the ball past at the near post.

Boulogne could not hold out, and when a Costa corner was misjudged by Valverde, Dzodic popped up at the far post to turn the ball into the net and give his side a thoroughly deserved lead.

This proved the last key action of the match, as the final ten minutes of play passed largely without incident.
