Bologna poured forward with renewed confidence and went very close to a second, as a Mingazzini corner was cleared to the edge of the box where Vigiani's fierce volley smacked the crossbar.

But Bologna made it 2-0, as Zalayeta knocked it down for Marco Di Vaio to sprint into the box and beat De Lucia with an angled drive. However, it was a controversial goal, as replays suggest Di Vaio handled to get the ball under control.

Mingazzini's poor pass failed to make the most of Vigiani's counter and Viviano intercepted a Francesco Tavano cross before it could reach Danilevicius. Summed up a tough night for Livorno who now lie at the bottom of the table.
