Valencia vs. Sporting Gijón

David Barral stunned the home crowd when he put Gijón in front on six minutes when he latched onto a long ball and dispatched a shot to the near post that beat a poorly-positioned Miquel Moyá.

Valencia, though, would go level in the 22nd minute through Spanish striker David Villa after a Jeremy Mathieu's cross in the area.

Moments later, it appeared that Gijón's hopes were all but dashed when midfielder Michel Madera was dimissed for a second yellow card after a senseless handball.

The advantage paid off for Valencia on the hour mark when Villa hit a fantastic shot beyond the reach of goalkeeper Juan Pablo to give the home side what appeared to be a winning goal.

But Gijón had other ideas, and with four minutes to play Arnolin found his way into the area and headed into an open net after Moyá failed to deal with a cross into the middle of the area.
