Cristiano Ronaldo bagged his third goal in as many competitive games for Madrid in the 27th minute when he hit a masterful free-kick from 26 yards, and Raúl doubled the lead just seven minutes later when he slotted home from close range after Gonzalo Higuaín's service into the area.

Higuaín completed the Galácticos' domination of the first half just before the interval when some awful defending when Raúl paid back the favor with a pass for the Argentine, who found his way through for the third.

But the Spaniards held firm and got an insurance goal in the 89th minute as Ronaldo hit a wicked shot that was deflected in off goalkeeper Johnny Leoni's attempted punch clearance. Guti added a fifth for Madrid at the death.
