Chelsea vs. Porto

Chelsea were the better side from the outset at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues failed to grab a goal in the first half to complement their efforts in attack.

That all changed in the 48th minute when French striker Nicolas Anelka scored at the second chance after having his initial shot saved by Porto goalkeeper Helton. Chelsea continued to pressure Helton, but he made some tremendous saves to keep the Portuguese side in the match.

The visitors' fate would be sealed late on, however, when Fernando was dismissed for a second bookable offense, a mis-timed sliding tackle against Ashley Cole.
