Sampdoria vs. Udinese

Castellazzi needed another desperate save to prevent Simone Pepe from tapping in after Rossi's poor clearance from a corner, twice scrambling to block from point-blank range. Castellazzi was on stunning form and had his palms stung by a Diaz Felipe header from six yards. With Udinese denied at every turn, Sampdoria doubled their lead. Antonio Cassano invented the goal, as he trapped a cross around the penalty spot, feinted a shot and backheeled it into the path of the on-rushing Mannini.

The Friulani finally beat Castellazzi with their star Antonio Di Natale, as a dreadful Gastaldello clearance looped into the air and he smartly volleyed from nine yards. Cassano put the result beyond doubt with a magnificent solo effort. He trapped a cross-field pass from Stankevicius, dribbled past two defenders on the edge of the box and unleashed a right-foot daisy-cutter that curled into the far bottom corner. Padalino's header thumped the crossbar and as Cassano went to get the loose ball, he was brought down by Samir Handanovic. The goalkeeper made up for the error by saving Cassano's penalty low to his left.
