Cagliari vs. Siena

Andrea Lazzari's wayward cross-shot almost caught out Gianluca Curci, but the best chance of the first half came on 39 minutes. Larrivey knocked down a corner kick for Jeda, forcing a fantastic save out of Curci. There was a scuffle before the break when Maccarone did not see Astori down injured and continued playing, so Calaio' and Daniele Conti were booked in the melee. Siena took the lead straight after the restart, as Ghezzal's cross found Calaio for a free header that bounced across the face of goal into the far bottom corner.

Cagliari needed to get back on track and threw on Nene' and Alessandro Matri, the latter going close immediately when getting his head to a Lazzari set play. Instead Siena doubled their lead with a similar goal, as once again Calaio' was allowed to jump and nodded a corner into the same area of the net as his first. Cagliari got a chance to get back into the game when Agostini's left-foot volley from a corner struck Ghezzal's arm. Jeda took the spot-kick duties and sent Curci the wrong way to score the Sardinians' first goal of the season. Poor defending at the back proved costly again, as Reginaldo was allowed another free header from a corner to give Siena the victory.
