Report

Vincenzo Iaquinta wasn't meant to play in this game, but he scored the winner for Juventus against a tough Chievo outfit. There was bad news before kick-off, as Alessandro Del Piero suffered from a back problem and was sent to the stands, Vincenzo Iaquinta taking his place. A free kick ricocheted out to Giorgio Chiellini for an angled drive that wipped across the face of goal. Iaquinta was not meant to play tonight, but he scored their first goal of the season. Diego earned a free kick from 30 metres and floated it into the box for a towering Iaquinta header. Chievo went very close to an equaliser, as Giampaolo Pinzi knocked it on for Pellissier's volley that flashed just wide with Gigi Buffon beaten. Iaquinta nearly got a second, as Amauri went off on a slalom past Morero and crossed for Iaquinta's header, which Stefano Sorrentino kept out with a trailing leg. Sorrentino parried a Diego free kick, then the former Werder Bremen star hit the side-netting after a clever dummy on Nicolas Frey, winning the applause of the fans. Hasan Salihamidzic went off with an injury to make way for Paolo De Ceglie. Chievo were still in this game and Pellissier skipped past Chiellini, forcing Zdenek Grygera to dive in and anticipate Erjon Bogdani.
