Genoa vs. Roma

Roma equalised very quickly, as Jeremy Menez's header from a Marco Motta cross was parried into the path of Rodrigo Taddei to tap in at the back post. Amelia did what he could in the circumstances, but could do nothing on Taddei. Sculli soared above the crowd to turn a header on to the side-netting, but Roma turned the game around completely! Some chaotic defending failed to effectively clear their lines and a wayward long-range effort from Stefano Guberti was turned into gold by Totti, who stuck out a foot to redirect it past Amelia. Artur pushed Sculli's cross-shot out for a corner as Genoa poured forward. They made it 2-2 with a magnificent debut goal from Zapater, curling a perfect free kick into the near top corner from 20 metres out that left Artur no chance. It was a spectacular encounter and Daniele De Rossi's fierce rising strike stung Amelia's palms. Palacio skimmed the woodwork from distance, but Giuseppe Biava should have been sent off for a blatant body-check to stop Menez running clear on goal 75 minutes into the match. That could have proved even more decisive than originally thought, as Biava restored Genoa's lead. A free kick found Sculli's volley, but Artur only parried it into the path of Biava from point-blank range. Artur needed another desperate save to deny a fourth from Lucho Figueroa's deflected effort that was looping its way under the bar.
