With all four goals scored in the first 20 minutes of the match, VVV Venlo and FC Groningen held each other to a 2-2 draw. For VVV, it was their fourth draw in a row.
Newly promoted VVV started well as Japanese forward Keisuke Honda converted a free kick after just seven minutes.
But Groningen soon turned things around. A volley from Nicklas Pedersen levelled the score in the 13th minute, two minutes before Andreas Granqvist headed home for a 1-2 lead.
VVV did secure a point though as Sandro Calabro rose high to head past the keeper Luciano from a Achmed Ahahaoui corner kick on 20 minutes.
Neither team managed a winning goal, leaving both without victory after four games.
