Feyenoord move into second place in the Dutch Eredivisie, thanks to a narrow but valuable win at Heracles Almelo on Sunday.
Feyenoord coach Mario Been had left several of his key players benched, with names as Roy Makaay, Kevin Hofland and Denny Landzaat all missing from the starting line-up.
The first half in Almelo was rather uneventful, but Feyenoord began to dominate the counter after the break.
The reward came in the 72nd minute when Danish striker Jon Dahl Tomasson tapped home from a Andwele Slory assist. In the remainder of the match, Heracles lacked the skills to avoid their first defeat of the season.
