Heerenveen scored early in the first half to earn their first win of the season, a 1-0 victory over troubled Vitesse Arnhem.
The Frisians scored what turned out to be the winning goal after 13 minutes. Roy Beerens spotted Hernan Losada, who rushed through the defense and picked up the ball to direct it past keeper Piet Velthuizen.
Both sides created opportunities in the second half but no more goals were scored at Abe Lenstra stadium.
Heerenveen move up to eighth position with four points from three games, while Vitesse are second-to-last with only RKC Waalwijk behind. Unless the Arnhem outfit start earning more points soon, they face yet another battle against relegation this season.
