Ajax vs. RKC Waalwijk

Uruguayan Luis Suarez hit the post after less than 30 minutes at the Amsterdam Arena in what was expected to be a very one-sided event.

Ajax did take the lead in the 10th minute as Gregory van der Wiel combined with Cvitanich before beating the opposing keeper for 1-0.

But an error from Ismail Aissati allowed RKC to create an attack that led to the equaliser in the 31st minute, with Benjamin De Ceulaer hitting the net for 1-1.

After the break, Ajax had more difficulties finding their way past the opposing defense but were helped when Wouter Gudde caused an unnecessary penalty in the 71st minute. Gudde collected a second yellow card and Suarez converted the opportunity.

The 49,000 spectators watched as the South American made it 3-1 in the 82nd minute and 4-1 ten minutes later.
