Despite having all the chances and all the pressure in the match, it took a 75th-minute own goal by Marvin Matip to lift Borussia Dortmund to a 1-0 victory at home against Köln.
Dortmund enjoyed the vast majority of possession and had 16 corners in the match to Köln's one, but the men in yellow struggled to get the ball past in-form goalkeeper Faryd Mondragón. The only time he was truly beat was when Felipe Santana's header off a corner crashed off the crossbar in the 62nd minute.
The pressure finally paid off a quarter-hour from time as a ball from Tamas Hajnal played in midfielder Tinga, but the leg of Matip got to the ball and touched it past Mondragón.
Dortmund will have a tough outing next week as they travel to Hamburg, while Köln look to get back on track at home against reigning champions Wolfsburg.
