The hosts definately took the game head long when they created numerous openings within the start as Souleymane Camara and Victor Hugo Montano both had their penalty claims waved away.

But Montpellier were dealt with a blow when new signing Cyril Jeunechamp was sent off for a second bookable offense and PSG took full advantage of the invaluable opportunity with Ludovic Giuly, Stephane Sessegnon and Mevlut Erding nearly breaking the 0-0 scoreline in the first half.

PSG would dominate proceedings after the interval with Sessegnon, Peguy Luyindula and Giuly again going close, but to no success.

However, on the 71st minute Claude Makelele’s shot would be blocked by Geoffrey Jourdren with Giuly finding the net on the rebound.

But PSG's defensive mindset, after scoring, cost them the game as Emir Spahic would score through a header from a corner at death.
