Feyenoord Rotterdam won their first match of the Eredivisie 2-0 over NEC, but failed to actually convince throughout the game.
The home side, now managed by former NEC coach Mario Been, needed just ten minutes for Danish forward Jon Dahl Tomasson after poor defense from the visiting team.
From here on, NEC were the dominant side at the Kuip stadium but couldn't get the ball past keeper Darley, who delivered a good performance on his debut.
Slightly against the run of play, Feyenoord added a second goal in the 76th minute. An Arek Dadomski foul earned the hosts a penalty and Diego Biseswar made no mistake from the spot.
