A first half from Colombian Hugo Rodallega was enough for Wigan to end their season on a positive note with a 1-0 victory over Portsmouth.
The goal that earned Wigan their final three points of the season came after 26 minutes. Charles N'Zognia provided Rodallega with the pass that allowed the South American to put the ball past goalkeeper Begovic for 1-0.
Wigan could and possibly should have scored more goals, but Portsmouth avoided further damage at the end of what should be considered a disappointing season to their side.
Pompey, who spent part of the season in the top half of the table, finish in 15th place. Wigan in turn end the year in 11th position.
