Liverpool successfully defended their second place in the final classification of the Premier League, beating Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 at Anfield Road. The Spurs finish in eighth place.
The Reds took the lead after 32 minutes, when a Dirk Kuyt cross was headed home by fellow forward Fernando Torres.
Allan Hutton made it 2-0 four minutes after the hour, unfortunately directing the ball into his own net with the assist going to, once again Dirk Kuyt.
Former Liverpool striker Robbie Keane got one back in the 76th minute but Yossi Benayoun went on to score his side's last goal of the season, from a Steven Gerrard pass with ten minutes to go.
Liverpool dominated in all senses, and the victory was no less than deserved.
