A week after their victory over Middlesbrough, there is no longer euphoria to be found at Newcastle as the Magpies are back in the danger zone following Saturday's 0-1 defeat by Fulham.
The only goal of the match was scored by Diomansy Kamara, who received the ball from Erik Nevland before putting it past keeper Harper in the 41st minute.
And things got worse for the home team when Sebastien Bassong fouled Kamara on the hour and was sent off by referee Howard Webb.
The referee was also influential earlier on when a header from Mark Viduka beat keeper Schwarzer, but the goal was disallowed.
