Manchester City are in the top eight of the Premier League following Friday's 3-1 win over Blackburn, a victory inspired by South Americans.
Felipe Caicedo of Ecuador scored the opener on 27 minutes, converting a Nedum Onuoha pass from close range. A few minutes later, Robinho added a second from the edge of the penalty area.
The third home goal came just before the interval as Blumer Elano converted a penalty. The spot kick had been caused by handling from Gael Givet.
Rovers did something back in the 65th minute when Onuoha fouled Morten Gamst Pedersen in the penalty area. Shay Given parried El-Hadji Diouf's effort but Keith Andrews was first to get to the ball and pushed it past the keeper after all.
Whether it was an entirely deserved win is debatable, but City were certainly more effective near the opposing goal.
