Espanyol’s new coach and third of the season, Mauricio Pochettino began his tenure in control with a 1-1 draw against Real Valladolid. Currently they are one off the bottom but four points off safety and a victory against fellow-strugglers Recreativo is vital. They have not won in the Primera League since November and have only picked up three points (three draws) from a maximum of eighteen in their last six matches. Things are not made any easier by the fact that forwards Raul Tamudo and Ivan De La Pena are still expected to be out with injury while Sergio Sanchez is to miss out through suspension.
